Hip Hop Tours & Exchanges

Keeping in the spirit of Do For Self, we organised our own tours locally & internationally. This resulted in ongoing tours for Black Noise & other youth to Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Germany, Finland, Holland, Planet Hip Hop in New Jersey, Heal the Hood Hip Hop
School tour to WOMAD in Italy & the UK and Emile touring as a judge to Botswana.


HTH BRING DANCERS FROM SWEDEN (MIA AND SANA) TO CAPE TOWN
Emile, through Black Noise tours in Sweden decided to bring these twins to teach at schools in Cape Town two years ago. It is ironic that these dancers would teach at the schools where the dancers selected for this years exchange were from and in return they get to attend classes here in Sweden.

HEAL THE HOOD HAMMARKULLEN
In 1998 Rikskonserter contacted Emile of Black Noise to host this exchange that would focus on the similarities faced by immigrants and South African youth when it came to racism and ways of combating it. It would involve a tour of Swedish youth to 10 schools on the Cape Flats.

HEAL THE HOOD CAPOEIRA INITIATION
In 1999 Paul Blomgren and Billy Malm toured South Africa with Black Noise to promote Capoeira in South Africa. It was combined with the African Battle Cry, which was nationally hosted that year.

HTH SWEDEN VISITS SOUTH AFRICA
In 2003, youth from Umeå, Sweden travelled to Cape Town, South Africa to learn more about life in South Africa and visited the TAC (AIDS Treatment Action Campaign) in Khayelitsha. They also visited schools throughout Cape Town. They also brought along clothing for the Heal the Hood Group in Ocean View, Cape Town.

HTH SOUTH AFRICA VISITS SWEDEN
In 2005, HTH sent Leticia Fischer and Taswill Constance to Sweden to learn skills that they would teach to the Hip Hop community when they returned.   

HTH BRINGS HONG 10, EPHARAT, KUMARI & BOB TO FREESTYLE SESSION & SHUT UP JUST DANCE
In 2007, HTH brought Hong 10 to judge, Kumari and Epharat paid for themselves to travel to South Africa, while HTH would arrange transport and workshop venues throughout the Western Cape. They all judged at Shut Up Just Dance

HTH SCHOOL VISITS ENGLAND, ITALY & NORWAY
In 2008, Emile YX? was invited to perform at WOMAD in Italy, England and then later by Norway. He decided to take the HTH School along to experience these type of performances and work away from home. It also gave them an opportunity to learn and earn.
