Afrikaaps talk with Stefan, Emile, Janine, Adam Haupt & Shaquile. HTH explained how language was a powerful tool to divide people and how the youth on the Cape Flats. This presentation was moderated by Dr Adam Haupt from UCT and made for amazing understanding about the obstacles faced by community workers when dealing with or ignoring Afrikaaps or Kaaps, as a fundamental learning tool. Lessons learnt from the play definitely helped with Heal The Hood developmental programmes. 11th – Open Book Fest – Panel with Tanswell, Stefan & Don Pinnoch. Heal The Hood Project explained the work that they do in the communities that Don Pinnoch was writing about. His book “Gang Town” was about the history and realities of gangs in Cape Town. HTH challenged the generalization used to label the entire city of Cape Town as Gang Town in the title, perpetuating the illusion that the bad is the majority, when the reverse is the truth.
